1. What is the difference between MP and VX?
Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus outputs to AVI format files. These are useful for playback on your computer and hardware devices that are certified to play them. The great advantage of AVI files is the relatively small file size for greater video quality. If you plan on watching some movies on your laptop during a plan ride or long car ride then this product is for you.
Forty-TwoDVD-MPPlus outputs to many MPG formats including DVD, SVCD, VCD, CVD and both KVCD and KVCD2 formats. The Sizzle output format is also possible for users of Sizzle. These output formats are great for playback on many set top DVD Players. Not all players play every format but you can check a great database for the details that other users have reported for your particular DVD player at DVDRHelp.com.
2. Forty-TwoDVD-MPPlus says it is missing support files?
Please make sure that you have installed the support files exactly as shown in the manual. Also, you must be online when you build the support files with the buildForty-Two Support utility.
updated for forty-two-v1.5
1. Where can I make a donation? How can I help?
Donations can be made at this link and are greatly appreciated by not only the developer team but by everyone because they help the developing process.

2. My transcoding never works and I am using SoundSticks (or other USB Audio device) on my Mac, what's wrong?
There is a problem when a usb audio device stops working, it may cause mplayer to have problems.
3. Does forty-two work with Mac OS X 10.1.x?
Sorry, forty-two only works with Mac OS X 10.2.3 or later.
4. I installed mplayer, mencoder, etc... via Fink, do I still need to install these into the forty-two folder?
Yes, forty-two uses a seperate set of binaries so it does not clash with what you may or may not have installed already.
5. Why are some of the AVI files that forty-two makes not playable in Quicktime?
When you make a NearDVD file it has AC3 audio, which Quicktime does not like, so use mplayer or vlc to watch them. If you chose qDVD, you need to use DivX Validator so that Quicktime can play the audio properly.
6. Is the test clip still on my hard drive after it has played?
Yes you will find it in your Home directory named testmovie.avi or testmovie.mpg. Feel free to run it again in vlc or mplayer again to see how it looks anytime.
7. How come this DVD doesnt work but others do?
forty-two does not claim to work with every DVD out there, your results may vary.
8. Where do I report any bugs/problems/comments?
Before emailing, please read the manual. You can submit bugs HERE. Comments can be submitted HERE. Please keep in mind that we get a large quantity of them so most obvious problems have been emailed many times over and are being worked out.
9. Can you consider my idea for your next update?
